Letter from the owner
Hi there!
We (Julia and Joe Charalel) have lived at 334 Park Street since Fall 2021 along with our now 3-year-old son, Leo, and our 10-year-old Siberian Husky, Jack.
We wanted to share a few of the things we’ve loved about living here with you.
The Bernal Neighborhood
334 Park
This home and neighborhood have given us so many happy memories, and we hope you’ll love it here just as much as we have.

- Park Street is a wonderful community! There’s a group WhatsApp chain that’s very active — everything from planning block events (Halloween party, holiday caroling, etc.) to solving random issues (“Does anyone have spare moving boxes?” “Can someone move this car?”). It made us feel so at home, safe, and connected right away.
- We became close with our immediate neighbors (friendly, quiet, and respectful!) who were always happy to lend a hand — like letting us use their washing machine when we accidentally washed a pack of diapers (oops) or dropping off fresh-baked bread whenever they baked.
- Holly Park is less than a block away — a beautiful, kid- and pet-friendly space we visited almost every day for walks, playground hangs, and bike rides on the tennis/basketball courts.
- Cortland is Bernal’s charming main street, full of great local businesses. Good Life Grocery is actually good (and reasonably priced!), Avedano’s has an amazing butcher, and there are coffee shops (Pinhole), bakeries (Black Jet), and countless other gems. We loved walking up on a Friday or Saturday night for an amazing meal without needing reservations (Vega!) — and Holy Water has the best piña coladas in the city.
- For families, there’s a sweet little library, tons of playgrounds, and so many ways to connect with other parents and kids.
334 Park
- We’ve loved living in this sweet home — it was the perfect place to start our family. Moving to NYC for work was exciting, but leaving this house was the hardest part.
- Our favorite things: the massive (for SF!) backyard where we hosted many fun gatherings and where Leo spent hours playing, the incredible south-facing light we get all day long, the indoor-outdoor flow, and a layout that really maximizes the space. The upstairs is cozy, and we loved being so close to Leo’s room during the newborn days.
- We remodeled the kitchen and bathroom to make them more beautiful and functional, and upgraded a bunch of fixtures throughout the house.
- Parking on Park Street is shockingly easy — we kept one car in the garage and one on the street the whole time without any issues. Guests usually found a spot right in front of the house.
- We had actually planned to stay forever, and even had plans drawn up with a local architect to turn 334 Park into a luxurious 4-bedroom, 3.5-bathroom home. We’re happy to share those with buyers.
This home and neighborhood have given us so many happy memories, and we hope you’ll love it here just as much as we have.
— Julia, Joe, Leo & Jack
